There is so much to do in the area, whether your taste is for spectacular scenery, you are an activity junkie or you just want to chill out with a good book, The Castle is a good place to start!

Llandovery’s Heritage Centre is adjacent to the hotel a place brimming with maps and leaflets, interesting books and helpful local advisors to send you off on your adventures….

Here are some of the things we regularly love to do:

• Wander up to Myddfai where the legendary physicians lived and most recently the home in Wales for Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall
• Watch the Red Kites being fed at Llanddeusant
• Go fishing in the Towy on Llandovery Bridge , the best sea trout and sewin fishing in Wales
• Go shopping in Llandeilo with it’s classy boutiques, interior design shops and delicatessens and enjoy a leisurely lunch
• Pan for gold in the Dolaucothi gold mines
• Take in Llyn Brianne, a spectacular reservoir in the beautiful upper Towy valley
• Hire a mountain bike (5 mins away) and head for the hills
• Visit the National Botanical Garden of Wales and Aberglasney, the garden lost in time.
• Seek out the cave of Twm Sion Cati, the infamous Welsh highwayman in nearby Rhandirmwyn
• Take a cream tea in our courtyard dining area or by a roaring log fire and just watch the world go by….
