Local cooks represent Wales in ITV’s new ‘Taste the Nation’
A team of passionate cooks from Carmarthenshire mentored by Welsh celebrity chef Graham Tinsley MBE have been picked to compete in brand new ITV1 programme ‘Taste the Nation’ which will be broadcast each weekday evening starting on Monday 16th of March at 5.00pm.
The four man team which includes: Llandovery Castle Hotel proprietor, Nick Evans, celebrated chocolatier Tracy Kindred from Heavenly in Llandeilo, Diane Taylor caterer from Glan y Mor School in Burryport and student Simon Evans will compete against a formidable line up of teams picked from all over the UK. All the teams mentored by celebrity chefs such as Rosemary Shrager and Anthony Worrall Thompson have to cook and serve a three course menu based on products sourced from their locality.
The Carmarthenshire team will use products such as Perl Wen Cheese and Carmarthenshire ham to create a delicious menu of Perl Wen Cheese Soufflé, Pork Tenderloin wrapped in a light chicken mousse with a Calvados sauce and Caramelised apples and a Chocolate tart with Welsh Cream liqueur served with raspberry crackling.
On the evening of Wednesday April 15th ‘An Audience with Graham Tinsley’ will be held at The Castle Hotel Llandovery for people to try out the menu cooked by the Carmarthenshire 'Taste the Nation' team with a demonstration by the celebrity chef, Graham Tinsley. Heavenly in Llandeilo will be providing a chocolate tasting at lunchtime on Thursday 16th at which Graham Tinsley will attend.
